We all look at the Sartorialist religiously, but sometimes, let’s be honest, it can be a little bit too genteel for those of us who prefer to spend our free time riding bikes, drinking too much whiskey, and shopping at low-end vintage clothing stores rather than calling Chantal at Prada to see if the Cruise Collection has come in yet. Though the photography isn’t as glamourous as the Sartorialist’s, Streetpeeper is an equally addictive, more accessible site for those of us who want to see what our peers are actually wearing–all over the world. I mean, is this girl above not the cutest person in the world? And, christ, her name is Fran. Haley

Ombre is one of those textile trends that can be absolutelythebestthingever or reallyreallybad, particularly in high contrast black and white and even more particularly on men. Where on a woman ombre can be ethereal yet graphic, Alberta Ferreti’s gorgeous cocktail dress being a perfect example, the gentleman wearing the ombre ensemble featured in Givenchy’s mostly good men’s collection for Spring 09 looks like a paint stirrer. A handsome one, but a paint stirrer all the same. Similarly, Alexander McQueen’s perfectly tailored suit with that garish white stripe down the middle hurts my little heart. Perhaps a more gentle gradient would help? Or maybe boys should just stick to jeans, t-shirts, skinny suits, and slouchy cardigans? Ah, only in a perfect world. HALEY
