HOP ON THE SPIRAL BITCH!

When it comes to photography duos you instantly think if Inez and Vinoodh or Mert and Marcus. Now there is a new team tearing shit up, Reed and Rader.

1. What motivates you?
We want to create a dialog where we can push people and ourselves to think beyond today’s reality and imagine what is possible tomorrow. On a personal level, our partnership motivates us to continually one-up each other and move on to bigger and bolder ideas.

2. Who/what are your greatest inspirations?
We are inspired by standing on the precipice of the future. Technological innovation such as augmented reality and exploration of outer space are our two biggest themes. The work of futurists Ray Kurzweil and Vernor Vinge explore these ideas and are two of our largest inspirations.

3. How do you describe your style of photography?
We combine photography with everything from illustration and collage to game design and installation. In today’s multitasking world it just feels right to pull from everywhere at once and all these elements can be found in our current body of work.

4. What are you working on now?
We’re in the development stage of exploring the near-future of photography when e-paper has pushed the still image towards obsolescence and what it means for images in magazines and galleries. Also we are working on a self portrait project of us as robot avatars and continuing to grow the Polaroid project of the glorious Mister Wubba (www.misterwubba.com).
